Giant Rubber Duck Brings Whimsy To Clearwater

In the sleepy town of Clearwater, Florida, a sudden splash of whimsy has taken over. A gargantuan rubber duck, christened "Mama Duck," has materialized in Coachman Park, its 61-foot frame towering over the surroundings. This behemoth of a bird, accompanied by its diminutive 10-foot-tall offspring, "Timmy," has captured the attention of locals and visitors alike.

Mama Duck's sojourn in Clearwater is a temporary one, lasting from January 9 to January 26. During her stay, the city will play host to a series of events designed to celebrate her presence. The installation of Mama Duck and her entourage has come at a cost of approximately $45,000, a sum that will be covered by a combination of sponsors and the Clearwater Downtown Development Board. The arrival of Mama Duck coincides with the reopening of Coachman Park, which underwent an $84 million renovation in 2023. The revamped BayCare Sound, a key feature of the park, now provides a picturesque backdrop for the giant duck's antics. As the city basks in the delight of Mama Duck's visit, residents and tourists can look forward to a range of activities and events.
