In the heart of Florida's west coast, a revolution is underway at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, where the boundaries between humans and wildlife are about to blur in a most thrilling way. As reported by WKMG, the park is set to unveil its most significant habitat upgrade in over a decade, dubbed Lion & Hyena Ridge, which promises to transport visitors into the wild world of lions and hyenas like never before.
Scheduled to open in 2026, this ambitious project more than doubles the space for two of Africa's most iconic and often-misunderstood species. Brian Bacica, Park President of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, expressed his excitement about the new habitat, emphasizing the park's commitment to conservation, education, and animal care at the highest standards.
The immersive savanna setting will feature expansive glass viewing areas and shaded pathways that offer breathtaking 270-degree perspectives of the habitat, allowing guests to get up close and personal with the majestic lions and cunning hyenas. The innovative design incorporates naturalistic elements like rocky kopje formations and cascading water, providing the animals with diverse spaces to explore throughout the day.
As WKMG reports, the new habitat is designed to inspire conservation and curiosity in visitors of all ages.
